Meeru Island Resort & Spa sits on a protected beautiful blue lagoon, with a long white sandy beach. Exotic calls from tropical birds fill the air, whilst the stunning backdrop of lush vegetation creates a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere.
Meeru Island is slightly larger than many of the islands Regaldive feature. It has therefore, in addition to excellent diving, the space to offer a variety of other water and non-water based activities on this otherwise undeveloped atoll.
It is a condition of booking that at least one dive pack is booked.
Accommodation
Meeru Island Resort & Spa rooms total 286, across a variety of room styles. All rooms are en-suite and air conditioned. King size or twin beds are available, and rooms boast individual sundecks, relaxation areas and internet connection. Other facilities include a safety deposit box, mini bar, tea and coffee service and a hair dryer.
Regaldive offer the Garden Rooms as standard which are 50m². These rooms are located in a 'U' shaped block of 20 rooms near the Dhoni Bar pool. They are newly renovated and have an indoor bathroom (not a partial open-air), a wooden sun deck and a privacy screen between the rooms and shaded area beneath the coconut palms with a view of the tropical gardens.
Many guests opt to upgrade to one of the 77 spacious Beach Villas (56m²) which sit facing the sea towards the lagoon. There are also 83 Jacuzzi Beach Villas are 80m², which offer a 4-poster bed, private area with outdoor Jacuzzi and shaded exterior relaxation area.
The 27 Water Front Villas offer the same facilities as the Jacuzzi Beach Villas over their 60m², with your own steps to the lagoon. Finally, the 77 Jacuzzi Water Villas are an expansive 85m², with private jetty and a hideaway location. The views are hard to beat as you enjoy an espresso coffee or Jacuzzi under the stars.
Other Facilities
Two buffet style restaurants, ‘Farivalhu’ and ‘Maalan,’ are each situated at the southern and northern ends of the islands, in a relaxing open air, sand floor style typical of the Maldives. In addition, there are two ‘a la carte’ restaurant options as well as a snacks menu served at the pool bar.
Meeru Island Resort & Spa island features two fresh water swimming pools. One of the pools features a children’s wading pool, and the other is for adults only (over 18 years). Wind surfing, kayak and catamaran instruction is possible at the island’s water sports centre, and relaxing spa treatments can be booked at the Duniye Spa.
Two flood lit tennis courts, ball games, darts, petanque, beach volley ball, bicycle rental, a small gymnasium and golf pitch & putt offer plenty to entertain non-divers searching for a break from the beautiful beach. Souvenirs can be bought at the gift and jewellery shop.

Dive info
Meeru Island Resort & Spa is the eastern most resort of North Male atoll and a scenic 55 minute speed boat trip from Male airport on the island of Meerufenfushi. The island is 1200 meters long by 350 meters wide and provides access to some fantastic dive sites accessed by boat. As the island sits on a protected lagoon and boasts an expansive white sandy beach, it also offers excellent conditions for learners and snorkellers.
Meeru Island Resort & Spa also offers a good range of other land and water sports, including wind-surfing, pitch & putt and tennis - meaning that there is plenty on offer for non-diving family and friends!
Boat Diving
Meeru’s dive centre runs a flexible boat diving program, offering single morning dives, 2-tank morning dives for the early birds and an afternoon dive option. Dive planning is displayed two days in advance, so you can sign up for boat trips suitable to your dive experience. Regular full day trips are also offered, with lunch on the boat, so that more distant dive sites can be reached.
Mantas and sharks are spotted from dive sites in reach of Meeru Island Resort & Spa with reasonable regularity throughout the year. There are more than 50 sites accessible from Meeru Island Resort & Spa. These range from those edging the drop off on the island, Thilas and Giris inside the atoll which are more protected from the notorious currents, to channel crossing dives for those with more experience under their dive belt.
Meeru’s Lagoon
Meerufenfushi is exceptionally well suited for learners! Its student friendly lagoon offers the perfect conditions in which to take your first steps as a beginner diver or to complete further training and build your experience. It also offers lovely snorkelling opportunites!

Getting Around and Basic Information
Male airport is located on its own island. The Airport island accommodates the main terminal, the seaplane port and the airport hotel (Hulhule Airport hotel). In the vast majority of cases, Male airport acts as the hub for all transfers between island resorts and atolls.
A narrow channel of water separates Male Airport Island from Male town and a regular inexpensive boat service operates between the two islands.
Once you are on your island resort, there is no ‘public’ transport to get around to other islands, you need to organise local excursions and join guided trips.
Twin centre stays, in most cases, hub through the central point of Male to reach your next island.
Internal Transfers to Your Island Resort from Male
Your resort/boat is reached either by sea plane or boat transfer from Male airport, distance dependant, with the exception of Haa Alifu atoll. Transfers are organised as part of your holiday package, unless requested otherwise.
Seaplane and Boat Transfers
Most islands close to Male offer speedboat transfers.
Island resorts located in Ari atolls, Raa atoll, Baa atoll, Lhaviyani atoll, Felidhe atoll, Meemu atoll, North and South Nilande atolls and Haa Dhaaul atoll are served by seaplane services.
Islands and liveaboards located on Haa Alifu atoll are reached by internal scheduled flight.
Some more distant islands offer a boat transfer as well, although as the transfer crosses between atolls they can often be long and uncomfortable and affected by the currents, so we opt to use the most comfortable option for each island.
If you are transferring by seaplane you should be aware of the following:
Seaplanes do not operate a fixed departure schedule, but are planned daily according to the islands and guests that must be picked up and dropped off. The planning is carried out locally 24 hours in advance.
Seaplanes often pick up and drop off guests from a number of islands on a single transfer run.
Seaplanes only operate during daylight hours, generally 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
You may have to wait for a short duration after arriving in Male. On departing, the islands will transfer you back to Male as late a local logistics on that day will allow.
On departing your island resort your return seaplane transfer time will be confirmed the day before departure by your resort.
If you have a late international flight departing home, it is highly advisable you ask Regaldive to reserve a day use package for you at the Hulhule hotel.
Seaplanes are not pressurised flights.
Seaplanes typically operate a strict weight policy of 20kg for hold luggage.
Excess luggage is currently $2/kilo to the island and $4/kilo on the return.
Inter Atoll Flights - Haa Alifu
Transfers to Haa-Alifu in the North involve an internal pressurised flight from Male. This is arranged and costed as part of your travel package to the north of the Maldives, unless otherwise requested.
Hulhule Airport Hotel - Day use & overnights
International and internal flight schedules occasionally make fairly long connection times in Male Airport inevitable. The Hulehule Airport hotel offers inexpensive day packages to non-residents for use of their beach, pool, showers, left luggage and other facilities. Pre-booked packages are available with Regaldive, for day use with and without a room, and overnight stays (refer to separate webpage on Hulehule Airport hotel).
Climate
This tropical climate has 2 monsoon seasons. November to May is the northwest monsoon season, which is dry and sunny. June to October is the southeast monsoon and brings the wet season. Having said this, the period crossover of the monsoon seasons fluctuates each year and even during the wet season, one may experience weeks of solid sunshine and just showers in short, sharp bursts.
Air temperature is stable around 28 - 30° C and the water temperature rarely drops below 25° C. Spectacular diving takes place all year round.
Currency
Local currency is the Maldives Rufiyaa (MVR).
Approximately £1 = 26 MVR
The tourist currency is US Dollar ($) or Euro (€). Island resorts charge in USD or Euros and bills can be settled with most internationally accepted credit cards at the end of your stay.
Time
The Maldives is +5 hours of GMT.
